Summer showed up this weekend, well, yesterday actually. So nice of it to show up. We spent a whole lot of the weekend working in the yard. Let me show you around….
And a super cool manhole cover on 6th between Hennepin and Nicollet.
Try to find a Farmer’s Market this weekend, they need our support!
This past weekend I went to a really fun Book Launch Party for my amazing grad school mentor (and dare I say, friend), Sheila O’Connor. Her newest book, Sparrow Road, is getting wonderful reviews and I can’t wait to curl up in a lawn chair and dig in. It’s geared for ages 9-12, so if you know someone that age find this book. Or if you believe in the power of imagination and creativity, find this book. Read it. Let me know what you think.
On a side note, the reading was at the Red Balloon Bookstore in St. Paul. I had never been there (shame on me) but it’s a delightful little children’s bookstore. And even the tornado sirens that went off during this reading couldn’t get us from enjoying it.

You must check out Tyler’s giveaway over at BabyLux Design. She’s giving away a beautiful fabric flower, but really the best part is you can check out her adorable handmade onesie designs. AND you can vote on your favorites! The photo above is my favorite….. “Daisy Mae”, so happy!
Or actually, I’ve been weeding and writing and running and working. Not much else. But a year ago I was in New York with some amazing friends, where we walked and ate and drank and shopped and talked. I miss you New York. See you next year.
And don’t forget, Art-A-Whirl is this weekend. Go there. Buy stuff. Have fun.
Well, it’s finally planted. Well, almost. I’m waiting for some heat out there before planting the tomatoes and peppers. But in the mean time we’ve got basil, cilantro, rosemary, mint, radishes, romaine, arugula, lettuce, peas and pumpkins. My chives, parsley and strawberries all came back (yay!). Husband was kind enough to rototil the garden and add a whole of of bags of compost. Now, bring on the heat and sunshine so these things can grow!
Meet Go-Go. She’s a Bonsai Tree. And she’s’ beautiful. Husband gave her to me for our fifth anniversary. (Which is the wood anniversary, if you care, get it?)
She’s beautiful. And I love her. I really, really, really hope i don’t kill her! Any tips?

Thanks to Google (and Husband for pointing it out) I just learned that today would have been the 76th birthday of Roger Hargreaves. the creator of the Mr. Men characters. I started collecting the little figures when I was in Junior High and they came in the Arby’s kids meals. I have about a dozen of the little guys (give or take a few when daughter is playing with them) and they’ve always had a special spot in my heart. I think they’ve made quite a comeback lately and I’m glad. They make me so happy!!
