I spent most of Sunday at a photoshoot for the day job, so I’m just catching up from the weekend. At least it was a lot of fun, and we shot some of my favorite things…. FOOD!
A few weeks ago when I picked up this book at Crafty Planet, I noticed they had the newest greatest fabric from Ty Pennington. Yes, that Ty Pennington. I don’t watch his Extreme Makeover show, but do think he’s an okay guy. With good taste. And the fabric, well, I couldn’t get his georgious fabric out of my mind. So, today over my lunch hour I ran back up to Crafty Planet and bought a couple yards. I couldn’t help myself. I plan to make the reversible tote from Amy Butler’s latest Bag Book using Impressions Papercut Charcoal and Blue . I figure this way I can show off all that beautiful (and expensive) fabric. I can’t wait to show off the new bag!
It was 14 degrees below zero when I woke up the other day. 14 degrees BELOW zero. That’s cold. And even though I’m a native Minnesotan and I can deal with these temps, I was still pretty happy that I had taken the time over the holidays to make these draft snakes. I used this great tutorial and they came together in no time. We have three in our bedroom. Two along the windows above our bed and this one along the sliding glass door. And yes, that’s snow on the other side of the window. And yes, it’s really that deep. In fact, I couldn’t get it all in the shot. Just know that it’s deep. Really deep.
I made one for a shower gift and I made one for my nephew. Finally, I made a Minky Blanket for Daughter. I bought this yard of Alexander Henry fabric last May at Purl Soho in NYC and I’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it. I finally realized that I hadn’t made my own daughter a blanket, so there you go! It’s a simple blanket, and just uses a yard of cotton fabric and a yard of the binky material. It’s so soft and folds up nicely for roadtrips and on cold days. Not that we every have those, right?
I think she likes it, don’t you?
I looked out the window after dinner last night and this is what I saw. I ran for the camera. I feel like I’m starting to get my creative legs back. I’ve been cutting fabric and planning some fun projects. I even finished a blanket for Daughter the other day. More on that later, in fact, stay tuned, because I’m just gearing up.
On a side note, I won’t be following YogaJournal’s 21 day Yoga Challenge. I just can’t get the videos to play on either of our computers. Let’s blame Comcast, okay? Meanwhile, I’ll just practice my yoga breathing and keep reading. Two books I’m racing through include this and this.
A few links to kick off the weekend….

We’re heading out for Dim Sum on Sunday. Any tips?
