I recently won a fabulous giveaway over at Daisy Janie’s blog. She had a week of giveaways last week and I was so excited when I got her email that I had won a stack of fabric! Yippee! What a happy surprise! This is three inches of 5″ x 5.5″ of fabric, totalling 3 yards. Now, I just need to figure out what to do with it! I’m thinking a set of quilted letters for Daughter, and maybe a small quilt. What do you think?
I spent a large chunk of last week getting ready for the two Craft Shows I have coming up. I made a few dozen of these beautiful lavendar sachets, and I have to say, they have made my whole studio smell amazing. I just wish you could smell them through the screen!
You can get one for yourself this Friday at the Willow House Craft Fair at 5617 24th Avenue South, Minneapolis from 3-8pm. Hope to see you there!
This weekend there are two great opportunities to get your holiday shopping done while supporting your local community!
Check out the Book Arts Festival at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.
And the Handmade MN Market.
Both are on Saturday, both are in Minneapolis, and both will be full of great finds.
I’ll be stopping at MCBA to see Jen at the Book Arts Festival, and if things go well (if the toddler is still in a good mood) I might stop at the HandmadeMN Market on the way back home.
Also…. (drum roll please)… The Linden Tree will be having their Grand Opening both Saturday and Sunday. This is an amazing shop in the Linden HIlls area of South Minneapolis full of beautiful fabric and fabulous handmade goods by local artists. (including me!) The store will be open Saturday from 10:30 to 4, and Sunday 12-4. Stop in and tell Melissa I sent you!
I stopped at Hancock Fabrics last week on a whim. I was in a store in the same mall, and figured I would check it out. I was attracted to these huge rolls of Home Decorator Fabric (aren’t they beautiful) and was kinda sorta looking for something to make a new Tablecloth with. I poked around, found one and asked the expert employees if they thought it would make a good tablecloth. Um, no, it can’t get wet. Huh, well, I guess I’ll just hang on to this one that I ordered from Crate & Barrel outlet. And I’ll keep looking for the perfect fabric as I have time. have you ever made a tablecloth? And what did you use? I need some tips…
I was busy this weekend cranky out goods for my upcoming Craft Fairs. I also made a few festive holiday wine bags.
I made a few with cotton snowflake fabric, and a few with red and silver satin. Not sure yet if these are headed to the Etsy shop or going to the Linden Tree. Either way, there will be more. And soon!
A couple of weeks ago I commented on Baby Lux’s Blog about her Fabric Scrap Swap. And then look what showed up in my mailbox this week! It includes Amy Butler fabric and a beautiful bunting for Daughter’s room. I can’t wait to hang it!
Now I just need to go through my stash and find someone to send back. I hope I can dig up a treasure. Stay tuned!
I’ve been doing Yoga on and off for about five years now and I love it. I love taking the time to go to a class, I love the final corpse pose, and I love how I feel immediately, and for days actually, afterward. But I rarely take the time to attend a class. So I was as surprised as anyone to realize I made it to two classes in past last week. Friday night I tried an Intro to Kundalini Yoga (different, interesting, refreshing) and Monday night I tried a Spa Gentle Yoga (candles, aromatherapy, massage). Both were great. And both left me wanting more.
It will be a few days before I can make it to another class, so I thought instead I’d let you know that I’ve been busy working on more Yoga Bags. In fact, I’ve even added a couple the shop. They’re made with Ikea Home Dec fabric, one has a pocket, both are beautiful.
And there are more coming….
I went to Crafty Planet last week for the first time. The first TIME! I can hardly believe I’ve been sewing for almost a year and knitting for a few more, and I’ve never been to the delightful Northeast Minneapolis shop! Jen gave me a gift certification for my birthday (in July) and we finally met there last week. As soon as I walked in my head started to spin. There were so many choices! It was overwhelming, but so much fun!
I walked out with three yards of amazing fabric, including this giraffe print that I plan to make into a dress for Daughter. The store is loaded with so many amazing fabrics, I can’t wait to go back!
Speaking of Jen, she’s having a giveaway, check it out here!
Tomorrow would have been my Great-Aunt’s 97th birthday. She passed away in February and a day doesn’t go by where I don’t think of her and remember her quick smile and hearty laugh. Happy Birthday, Ann. We miss you.
